Data Pads are similar to Skulls and Terminals in the past Halo games. Data Pads are hidden items that Bungie has left for us to find in the Halo Reach Campaign. Some of the Halo Reach Data Pads are pretty easy to find but there are a few that are tougher and we will help you find them. Click the links below to read the tutorial for each map.
The Data Pads below are listed in order by map. You can find them on any difficulty setting:

Hell yea I pirated Halo Reach 3 weeks before its release date. Ive beat the campain already and the ending lets you play a survival level where the screen cracks when you take damage then when you die you get to watch a cut screen where your fighting off elites with swords coming after you while watching from the view of your cracked helmet laying on the ground very cool. the campain is very simple and not as long as halo 3 there isn’t any big boss fights and the jet pack equipment makes the game alot easier. The best gun is probably the improved battle rifle where its single shot hold 15 rounds a clip and maxes out at 60 rounds.There’s also some new weapons that most people will say is cheap like a palsma beam rifle and the new needler sniper rifle theres also a easter egg golf club gravity hammer that you will find thats fun to use.
I’m so glad I finished the game before reading your comment. Great way to try and ruin it for others tho.
You DON’T get any credits or achievements for finding the data pads. It just give’s you more info on the story of HALO as a whole. That’s all.

why are the data pads on legendary difficulty not linked? I wanted to post the ones I found. how can I do it?
there is a data pad on the lone wolf mission… there is a pipe at the back of the level just run strait form the starirs down the tower search at both ends it is on the left end by the pipes up towards the end…
i found 2 on winter contingency and im taking full credit for it u heard it first theres a data pad at he very beginning of the level a cloaked elite is running from the civilian site down the hill toward the hill side before the 2 birds run around the corner. i found this on elite difficulty by the way.

Question, most of the Halo games have had alternate endings for completing Legendary, I’ve seen them all, why doesn’t Reach have an alternate ending? I’m asking because my friends have said that on Legendary (only) you can see the Chief after helping Keyes escape the Covenant Cruiser. I’ve found that you can see Chief on every other difficulty. (I know this is old but I’m still puzzled and am wondering if there may be something to the data pads that others are speculating). But if the collecting the data pads don’t really do anything, then what is the point to the pads exactly

If you remember correctly, Sadie’s story does unlock an “alternate” cut scene in ODST, so if it’s true what Rooster Teeth say, then the data pads should provide something alternate too?
